Welding an exhaust is a dangerous thing and many mechanics and specialists will tell you to take care. This can be dangerous on many levels, not the least of which would be the fact that it is a fire hazard and you are in real danger of burns if you are not wearing the right PEE. an exhaust will need repairs over time. A common repair that can require a weld would be the muffler. This is something that reduces the sound of your car noise. This means that it can be easy to tell when your muffler needs a repair, as it is a lot louder than usual. An issue that can occur with a damaged exhaust is that toxic fumes can lead into the car and this potentially can cause harm to your health.

Production Steps

Step 1

Cut the Pipe– this is where the pipe is cut carefully to reach the damaged or the part that needs replacing. This is a precise step as the wrong move can damage the exhaust

Step 2

Clamp The Pieces-  hold the parts in place with a clamp. This is usually done with a C clamp.  This will hold the pieces together until you weld them together 

Step 3

Spot Weld– this is four or five small welds around the exhaust. This is due to the thin nature of exhaust tubing. This is a great way to get the exhaust perfectly in place. 

Step 4

Complete the Weld– the last step would be to complete the wels. Weld the gaps remaining in the tubing and ensure that it is completely welded to eliminate the possibility of leaks and don’t forget to weld over the spot welds.
